The Eastern Freeway extension
The Eastern Freeway already carries traffic from Chembur to south Mumbai without a signal. MMRDA's extension takes it north on an elevated road from Chheda Nagar to Anand Nagar at the Thane border, so a drive from Thane can stay on grade-separated roads most of the way to the city.
What it means for Manpada
Manpada's road problem has always been Ghodbunder Road at peak hours. The new routes split that traffic: westbound trips take the tunnel, through traffic to Gujarat can use the coastal road, and commuters can take Metro Line 4. That is the change Godrej Downtown Avenue is betting on.
